His Highness, Nawab of former state Bahawalpur, Sir Sadiq Muhammad Khan Abbasi, established Bahawalpur Zoo in 1942 covering an area of 25 acres . The Bahawalpur Zoo came under administration of Wildlife Department in 1982.
