Agro Forestry

The “CM Initiative for Agro Forestry for Forest Waste Land” is being implemented in the DG Khan and Sargodha Civil Divisions with the aim of enhancing forest cover and promoting sustainable agroforestry practices on blank and plant-able forest land. The project is sponsored, executed, and maintained by the Forestry & Wildlife Department, in coordination with the Ministry of Climate Change, Government of Pakistan. Its key objectives include increasing forest cover, promoting the cultivation of cereal and fodder crops through local communities and the corporate sector, generating employment opportunities for local people, enhancing the production of value-added crops such as cereals, fodder, and vegetables, mitigating the impacts of climate change, and contributing to the removal of atmospheric carbon dioxide.

During 2024–25, the identified areas were successfully afforested and are being properly maintained. This includes 749 acres of afforestation in Chak plantations in Sargodha Circle using canal water and 3,041 acres of afforestation in riverine forests of DG Khan Circle through solar systems, covering a total area of 3,790 acres. Financial progress indicates that Rs. 52.733 million has been released so far, of which Rs. 20.981 million (40%) has been utilized up to December 2025, demonstrating satisfactory implementation progress.
