Shielding Summits Disaster Preparedness in Murree & Kahuta Hills

The Shielding Summits: Disaster Preparedness in Murree & Kahuta Hills project is a strategically planned initiative aimed at addressing the region’s vulnerability to natural disasters, particularly forest fires, by strengthening preparedness, response, and resilience mechanisms. The core objective of the project is to develop and implement a comprehensive disaster preparedness framework tailored to the unique geographical, climatic, and socioeconomic conditions of the Murree and Kahuta hill ranges. The initiative seeks to enhance community resilience, safeguard forest ecosystems, and minimize the loss of biodiversity through proactive risk reduction, early warning systems, and coordinated emergency response.

The final outcomes of the project are expected to include a significant reduction in forest fire incidents, improved protection of flora and fauna, and the establishment of a robust and sustainable disaster management infrastructure in the region. By strengthening institutional capacity, improving access and monitoring within forest areas, and engaging local communities in disaster response, the project aims to create a self-reliant and responsive system capable of mitigating future disaster risks. Ultimately, the initiative will contribute to long-term environmental conservation, ecosystem stability, and safer communities in the Murree and Kahuta Hills.
