The scheme titled “Revamping and Experience Development of Bahawalpur Zoo (New Scheme)” is designed to transform Bahawalpur Zoo into a modern, international-standard zoological and educational facility. The project places strong emphasis on wildlife conservation, public education, and eco-tourism by introducing interactive and immersive exhibits that enhance visitor learning and engagement. A key objective of the scheme is to improve animal welfare through upgraded habitats, strengthened veterinary healthcare services, and enhanced operational efficiency supported by modern infrastructure and trained staff.
The final outcomes of the scheme include the establishment of Pakistan’s first public indoor zoo offering immersive wildlife experiences, expansion of species diversity with improved animal habitats, and development of enhanced visitor facilities including a museum and digital interpretation systems. The project will also strengthen veterinary services and staff infrastructure, while contributing to increased eco-tourism, greater community engagement, and sustainable revenue generation.
