The Establishment of Nature Enclave (Preserving the Balance of Nature) is a landmark institutional development project aimed at transforming governance, coordination, and service delivery within the Punjab Forest, Wildlife & Fisheries Department. The primary objective of the initiative is to establish a purpose-built, modern headquarters that replaces outdated infrastructure with a safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible facility. The project places strong emphasis on sustainable and climate-smart design, incorporating energy efficiency, water conservation, renewable energy systems, and the development of an on-site urban forest to reflect the department’s conservation mandate.
The final outcomes of the project include the creation of a LEED-certified, resilient, and future-ready office complex that enhances operational efficiency through modern workspaces, integrated ICT infrastructure, and dedicated areas for research, training, and inter-directorate collaboration. The Nature Enclave will also serve as a platform for public engagement and environmental awareness, featuring facilities such as a Nature Gallery, multipurpose halls, and interpretive spaces highlighting Punjab’s biodiversity. In addition, the project will significantly improve staff well-being and productivity by providing natural light, ventilation, landscaped courtyards, and essential amenities such as a cafeteria, daycare, gymnasium, and library. Overall, the initiative will result in a centralized, eco-friendly, and cost-efficient institutional hub that strengthens governance, supports long-term resilience, and aligns departmental operations with modern sustainability standards.
